I'll try make Rock's character a little more developed and introduce him. Also, when I say he leaps, because he has no legs, he's really just jumping with his arms.
Rock crouched in the trees, sniffing the air intently, waiting for a foreign smell to enter his sensitive nostrils, alert his stomach that finally something would be coming. But it was his small ears that alerted him, somebody below was wandering along what was to the victim a vague path, but to Rock, a hunting trail. This was his favourite spot. The track was surrounded by beautiful plants and mostly harmless animals, a relatively safe track, making it fairly inviting to anyone was who wandering along. Of course, they didn't know Rock, a tree bound Big Bro Slig, free from glukkon control, would be lurking around the corner feeling very hungry. The whistling creature became visible as it came onto Rock's section of the path, Rock, not caring what kind of creature it was, leapt out of the tree before he could spoil his cover, which he often did, which was why he was so hungry.
He stuck out his arm on the way down, ready to snap the creatures neck with the muscled limb. Unfortunately, the creature ducked and Rock hit the ground clumsily as the creature started to run away. It was a small mudokon, fairly young, squeaking in fright at its ordeal. It didn't dare turn around to confront its attacker, just kept on running. Rock pulled himself up, disappointed with his effort, trying to think of a new killing method. A trap perhaps. A trap... that was a good idea. He climbed up to his tree and looked through his pile of random stuff, looking for an item he had found two days earlier.. a mine. He pulled it out, and threw it to the ground, anticipating its explosion, ready to discard the plan and think of another, but it did nothing, just dully hit the ground and sat there. Rock sniffed the air again to make sure nothing was coming, then leapt down to the ground, with a half somersault through the air.
He had started to grow two tiny growths, that you could call fingers, on the end of his tail. They were articulated like a tentacle and he could wiggle them. He carefully started digging into the ground, occasionally using an arm to scrape dirt, not wanting to lose balance, and after a good half hour made a hole deep enough to contain the mine. He slipped it in, and with his two 'fingers' pressed down the big red button in the middle of the mine. It started beeping softly and blinking red three times, then green. He very gently covered it with dirt, doing only a little at a time so as not to trigger the explosive. He put a small red leaf at either side of the path so he would remember where he put it, climbed back up to his nest, and drifted off to sleep.
