This was the best day Spider had in a long time. After saving the mud kids, he offered to help finish building the roof. The villagers happily agreed and afterward, when the job was done, offered him a place to stay and told him he could stay as long as he wanted. He gladly accepted and after eating a meal of spiced scrab meat (which was a first for him, he found it quite to his liking), he went to settle into his new home.
It was a decent sized hut and it not that far from the edge of the village, so he could see the forest easily. He looked around inside the hut, there were tables, chairs, all the comforts of a normal home. Most of all there was an actual bed!
When was the last time I slept in a real bed? Spider thought with a happy chuckle, Almost 5 years ago I think.
He slipped out of his pants and got into the bed. He sighed happily, the bed was really comfortable and he fell asleep almost immediately....

But then the dreams came, tormenting him with images of his past. A past he wanted to forget.

"Leave me alone!" he cried as he tumbled through a sea of painful memories, "Why can't I forget yer! I don' want ter remember!"
//To forget ones past is to deny thee thy future\\ a female voice as soft as a gentle rain said.
"Wh...who said that?"
//A friend\\
"Where are yer then?"
//Everywhere, yet nowhere\\
"I don' understand..."
//Thee will in time.\\
"Wait a mo...yer the voice I heard earlier..."
//Aye\\
"But then...why are yer helpin' me?"
//Thou hast started upon the path of awakening. I am here to guide thee through it.\\
"Awakening? What does that mean?"
//It means thou will soon discover the power within, thy's true potential, and true purpose. Thy will learn that which thou hast never known before.\\
"Argh...what are yer talkin' 'bout? What power? What purpose?"
//Thee will know in time, but know I must leave thee.\\
"No wait! Please tell me what yer mean!"
//I leave thee with a warning: Beware the scent of raising death and do not fall for their trickery no matter what the cost, for if thee do...thy's soul will forever be corrupted.\\

Spider awakened then, gasping. He looked out the window toward the forest; it was still night.
Beware the scent of raising death? he thought, what could she possibly mean?
At a loss for an answer, Spider laid back down and went back to sleep....
