It just occurred to me that all our definitions of 2D, 2.5D and 3D are going to be thrown out the window once 3D TVs and gaming become common. We're gonna have to come up with a whole new set of words to describe a game set in 3D but portrayed on a 2D screen and a game that is displayed on a 3D screen with 3D graphics but 2D gameplay. Ugh.
EDIT: And then we'll have to come up with new words once SCIENCE invents proper 360° 3D holographic displays to supersede the currently new 'Kinda looks 3D thanks to stereoscopic effect' technology.
