Naruto actually started off pretty damn good, then the mangecko got lazy, the artwork got more standardized and the opaque plot started to come before character interaction.
In comparison, Bleach started off as something bright and interesting but quickly devolved into contrived power ups, stupid plot twists, stereotypical characters and horrible pacing.
