I believe if anything Oddworld Ripped for George Lucas, or rather Oddworld used his ideas. it could be even a little inside joke.
but its more likely just a similarity.

I've always heard the squarky croaking bird that's heard an awful lot on Oddworld. I'll often hear it when I'm watching a TV show set in the jungle or something, and I think I've heard it once when I was in a zoo somewhere. It bugs the hell out of me, particularly because I was under the impression it was unique to Oddworld.
