A murmuring arose throughout Pyke: "Spider's back!" "Hunter's back!" "Olm's back!"...

At the gates, however, the guards were less enthralled. In fact, they were attempting to arrest Olm...

"Look," Hunter said, as he attempted to pull the guards away from Olm, "He didn't kidnap Spider, it was Lanar, I saw him."

Seltin, the Guard-Captain, bit his lip. "But the Mayor said to arrest him on sight!"

"But I haven't done anything!" Olm protested. "You can ask Spider when he wakes up!"

"Yes, but until he does, you're still under suspicion, and we can't afford to take chances!"

Hunter sighed. "Look, he isn't going to wake up unless you let Olm get him to his hut, so he can be treated!"

Seltin seemed to pause while he considered it, then nodded, and motioned for the other guards to part. After Hunter, Olm, and Teb had passed, carrying Spider, however, he blocked the path.

"You'd better stay out here," he said to the Wyvern, "We can't be having things like you on the streets..."

The Wyvern seemed puzzled at being stopped, but seeing Spider being carried away from it, it shrieked. "KIN!" Ignoring the shouts of the guards, it rose slightly into the air and flew forward after the others, knocking the guards aside as it did so.

When the dust had settled, Seltin sat up, rubbing his head where he had bumped it. Shaking his head, he stumbled to his feet and motioned to the other guards to follow the Wyvern. While they charged off, Seltin stumbled towards the Town Hall. The Mayor aught to know about this... he thought...
