Hardly. I think most people here will agree that they chose to play Abe over Munch every chance they got because Munch was slow, annoying, and fairly useless outside of the game mechanics built specifically for him. As far as his involvement in the plot... it's
Munch's Oddysee. His adventure. Of course Abe was pushed to the side, he was just there to help Munch along. If anything, Abe was probably used much more in the game than they originally intended.
