Really? I've always thought that it's a terrible idea to watch a movie after reading the book, because you'll always be disappointed. Or does Dick somehow surpass that rule?
Because Dick was such a respected author those who made movies based on his novels/stories did a pretty good job of staying as true to the book as they possibly could. Reading the books beforehand also gives you a better understanding of the characters. Since they are under time constraints, movies are usually way too vague and shallow about them, which is a shame, because Dick didn't really write vague or shallow character. Ever.
