No, they didn't actually. I'm just being practical here. You can distrust that 20 year old and kick his ass the second you see him but all that does is open a door for that guy to further intimidate your kid. If he really has ill intentions then he'll use that ass kicking to his advantage real quick. And since I'm the irrational parent in the eyes of my daughter, she'll choose his side at least long enough for him to completely wrap her in. By the time she realizes he's actually a douche bag it's probably already too late. So yeah, if there is no immediate cause for alarm aside from the age I prefer to keep an eye on the situation from a distance.
I've been through a situation myself where a father has done everthying in his power to stop me from seeing his daughter, up to and including warping her perception of me and calling in favours from his mobster brother.

At the time I thought he was the most demented horrible controlling piece of shit father in the world, but looking back I can see that just by existing I transgressed some serious lines. From someone who spent most of last year reeling from the ass end of a situation where a father takes immensely ott and controlling action I still think he was justified in what he did.
