Well, what Meech posted was official Valve uh...comics.
Here's my theory, and this is after spending an extended period on the Valve forums:
The majority of Valve fans are complete fucking idiots. They still laugh at 'The cake is a lie' and will actually think someone saying 'Spy sappin my X' is comedic fucking gold. Most of them are between the ages 13-25, almost all of the 18+'s being college students or graduates. The ones that play on PC are almost always complete cunts about it. They truly believe that as Valve fans they are superior to other people and can act however stupid as they want to.
Or
Before TF2, Valve wasn't really good at making protagonists. All of them are mute dicks, basically.
Then TF2 troddled in, shat out a bunch of playable characters with defined personalities (to a degree) and the fanbase went internally apeshit because they realized they could finally quote the game they were playing and not just state that they like it.
Or something.
Either way, I'm not impressed with Valve. At all. I think that half of their fanbase hangs on because Valve makes ridiculous shit like that MAC vs. PC video up there. In my mind, Valve jumped the shark as soon as they announced they'd be putting TF2 on the MAC, which was awhile ago. I mean, I have nothing against Apple, but why the fuck would they carry the game over to a whole other platform before fixing some of the numerous problems in the PC (and yeah, 360) versions. It blows my mind that people eat this shit up. It's gotten to the point where people who play it on the PC prefer the comparatively unbalanced 360 version because at least you don't have to deal with the drop system, hats, upgraded weapons and tons of other bullshit.

Got some pent up frustrations there? Jeez.
IMO Valve is one of the better game developers out there. It's one of the very few (if any) developers that still develop new content and support for their older games. Counter Strike: Source is getting a major overhaul (and I do mean major) and that game is from what, 2004? The original is from the 90's. People still play that in mass so Valve keeps supporting it which is how it should be done. Not yank the servers offline because you've got a new game that needs more attention or something.
Their only problem is time. They will announce something and take so long to actually show anything off that everyone starts forgetting about it all together. Then Valve comes along with another announcement to slap everyone awake again. BUT, when they do release something new it's almost always top quality.
Furthermore there is not a single developer as involved with their community covering such a wide array of games. Games like TF2 and L4D have gotten tons of new features over time that were specifically requested by the community.
That's why everyone loves Valve, and they deserve it.
