I'd like to suggest to any anime fans here that they try a fairly famous all ages visual novel called
Higurashi No Naku Kori Ni (When the Cicades cry). It's very easy to buy a copy and direct download it from the internet (It's licensed in the west and has been fully translated etc etc), there's a useful wikia devoted to fanmade patches to iron out the rougher bits of the translation (Changes the music and sprites to be far more eye/ear pleasing) and it's really really fun to watch and playthrough.
