Of course Ford and other companies would do it if they could. Doesn't mean it's fair or in some cases even legal. They know this and they also know that by pulling bullshit like that they might lose customers, which is something you can't afford in a highly competitive industry like the car industry.
The thing that pisses me off about this is that someone buying the game used has to pay 10 bux for something the original owner got for 'free'. I don't see this ever taking off and apparently EA doesn't have much faith in it either or they would deploy this beyond their repetitive sports series. I mean, who buys those games anyway.
