So it's overrated because it has actual substance, meaning, poetic metaphors, great story and superb cinematography?
I don't see why you would say it's overrated, as I never see it being talked about in the same amount as for example LOTR or some other big movie. I think Blade Runner is popular amongst some people, but you make it sound like such a bad thing. It's kind of sad really, cos it's a good movie. Good Movies deserve recognition.
I've heard lots of people talk of it being a cinematic masterpiece. And no, in my opinion, its overrated because the story is pretty bland and could be wrapped up in 10 minutes, virtually nothing happens in the movie, the meaning is one that didnt require 2 and a half hours to tell and seems to be in place of an actual movie, and the poetic metaphors are overly flowery.

Each to their own but I personally find it a dreadful film.
