My mum had Polish parents, and she often speaks in her native language with a Polish woman who lives up the road from us. Apparently Lech Kaczyński was a right-wing prick who opposed homosexauls amoung other things - Yet people are now turning him into a martyr.
There is some suspicion that he may of ordered the pilot to land in thick fog -
Apparently he did that on a previous flight (click here and read paragraph 4), although the pilot wasn't very professional if he let Kaczyński's orders over-ride common sense and training (if that is what actually caused the plane to crash - It's still open to speculation). . .
Of course it doesn't make it less of a tradgedy though. But plane crashes are always tragic - Doesn't matter who's onboard. It's still weird how all these politically important people were all onboard a single aircraft. . . What's the saying? Don't put all of your eggs into one basket?
