I suppose it's that everytime I want to talk I have to move my hands around the keyboard

If you're using normal digit keys, I can tell you it's not really long way using left hand
You can also use Numeric Keypad which is much closer to arrow keys :P There is no need for shorter way due to fact that you can't talk while walking/running/jumping etc.
