Watched The Box on demand.

The beginning was good and it promptly introduced the conflict.
Thing is, I was under the impression that the whole moral dilemma over pushing the button was going to be the primary focus of the film, but like twenty minutes in Diaz's character pushes the damn button and from there the plot shifts. It turns into a convoluted and needlessly complicated yarn about government conspiracy, aliens, and Stargate-style teleportation. Yep. It all comes together in the end, but even then I could really only say "eh". It was scatter shot, had weird pacing, and some serious inconsistency in character dynamics (the male protagonist, who they spent the first half of the film introducing as a John Every-man or below-average intelligence turns out to be a freakin' rocket scientist. And later on breaks out into a scholarly, poetic monologue to assuage his wife's concerns while they're slow dancing at some party).

All in all, not a terrible film, but it drags like hell and just leaves you with a serious feeling of dissatisfaction by the time all the loose ends are wrapped up.
