I think Oddworld to begin with was overly optimistic, but they managed to get it off the ground and keep it alive for over 10 years. Lorne has become one of the most respectable figures in the gaming industry thanks to his big ideas. I'd rather see him go at it with the same kind of ambition, even if he fails multiple times, than to see him settle down with something safe and mediocre like so many other successful people have done.
Oddworld isn't just a fun franchise that's meant to entertain in the same sense as warcraft or halo or whatever. It's much more important than that.
