I'll have all kinds of shit just piled on top of my computer desk, and it doesn't bother me at all, as long as I can see the screen.

Oh man, I do the same thing, but after a time it does bother me. When I finally clean it, I'm overly cautious in preventing it from happening again. So much in fact that I feel guilty just setting down my coffee mug anywhere in the immediate vicinity of my desk.
