I am awful at countdowns, since my favorites constantly waver, but ten would be:

10. The Diablo series - Pure, undiluted clickage and nonstop action, with an RPG elegantly draped over it.

9. The Black and White series - Lets face it, everybody loves playing God. (Spore is at 11) Plus my hands look like the evil one. Great atmosphere, too.

8. Portal - Makes your brain melt, in a good way. Plus, physics.

7. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc - Diablo II in third person, but with enough atmosphere, secrets and variety to make you feel like you've played 20 different games.

6. Worms: World Party - The game to play with friends round.

5. Darwinia and Multiwina - It may have the most strategic depth, but Darwinia absolutely nailed thst feeling of dynamism - once you've started, you will not stop until the virus are defeated, even if it means you just watch an infinite steam of magical little green men flow over the polygonised landscape. Also, philosophy.

4. AO and AE - Quite possibly the most atmospheric games ever made. Exploited the 2nd dimension to levels we will never see again.

3. Morrowind and Oblivion (Yes, I will lump them together) - Deep, detailed and vast, these were true epics, and they were about you.

2. The Dawn of War series - Best RTSs ever. Redefined strategy, and let the tiny details win enourmous battles. Dynamic, good-looking, and WH40K to the core. Also, TEAM PAINTING <3

1. Team Fortress 2 - It's great, you all know it's great, so I won't bore you.

That will stay accurate for about a week.
