You do realize that Gundam got a fraction of how many people view
Bleach right? Look at the poles from when Adultswim showed Gundam
and where they show Bleach now.

Gundam has been running on Japanese television since the late 70's. It is literally ingrained into their culture. Bleach started in august 2001 as a comic book. Gundam needed no comic book. Gundam was the first ever serious anime fiction, the first of the real robot genre, and such a major game-changer that it went down in history as a paragon of the industry. Since then it has gone through 12 series, 8 movies with another coming next year, countless manga adaptations, three OVAs with a fourth coming next year, and a truckload of merchandise.
Bleach is nothing compared to it.
