okay... i'm not too good at explaining things, but i'll give it a go:
do you have a lot of sets of data? well, you should have. what you do with a scatter graph is to plot a set of axes [i'm assuming you know what they are], and then plot your data on the axes. once all your data is plotted, you draw a straight line through it, trying to make the line go through as many as possible [and to have the same number of points on either side of it]. this is called a Line of Best Fit.
