Crash Bandicoot Boogies Over to Xbox
Crash Bandicoot, one of the biggest stars on Playstation is bounding his way over to Xbox. Video Business Online has learned that Universal Interactive Studios is readying an enhanced version of Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex for Xbox.
The move has symbolic and literal importance to Microsoft's new platform. Not only will Xbox gamers get access to Sony's mascot from a few years ago--the Bandicoot series surpassed 6 million worldwide unit sales in 1999--but Microsoft gets a family-friendly game (in addition to Shrek) to appeal to a wider swath of consumers than the mostly hardcore Xbox launch lineup.
SCEA will definitely get some lead time in the market with the PoS2 Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex. UIS senior producer Daniel Suarez could not divulge how much time.
He said the Xbox version would retain the same core game elements as the PoS2 title but would be enhanced "to harness the Xbox's powerful graphics technology." Suarez said the Xbox title will add special 3D texture effects such as bump mapping and use the system's built-in hard drive to speed file and graphics load times.
"Having Crash Bandicoot as part of our lineup is awesome," said Seamus Blackley, manager of Xbox's Advanced Technology Group.
Fuzzy: I have played Fusion Frenzy for many a hour already. With 2-4 players it is Mario Party on stearoids. It is a real fun game. Never plays the same, very original in it's game concept. As a single player game it too is still fun, you do play against Computer opponents. However it still is just more fun with friends. The game has alot of strategy as well, it is actually deeper than one would think at first glance. It's one of my games for the beautiful XBOX launch. I have been really tested on holding back Munch and Halo until Wednesday to play with my Brother. But Fusion Frenzy and a few freinds most notably the Sharkettes of Newport beach have been keeping me busy. Almost there now, 3 for me, and 4 for you and most everyone else.
