As for RPG's, yes PS2 is looking great for them, but more of the Japanese feel and style, if they are your thing go for them on PS2. Kingdom Hearts from Square and Disney will be an Epic on PS2. Only coming next Summer.
XBOX does have some RPG news as well however. Ego yes, as mentioned above, and Xavier FOX, but both games are more of ACT/RPG/SIMS, my type of RPG. There is a game being re-named as I type, it was called Fate, more of a traditional RPG. Only coming in Summer/Fall of 2002. Another of a FF style for the XBOX is called Metal Dungeon. A turn base type RPG. Looks promising, I have seen it up and running at E3. My Brother had just seen it at TGS in Japan, he was pretty impressed. As RPG's go it is of true next-gen quality, keep it in mind. It is more of FF style role playing style.
There is another that is still in the shadows, I cannot comment on it in detail, however I have seen it running and looked into some in-depth concepts of it. It is a cross of turn-based and RPG/Act, you have your choice. It is a true heavywight game that is made by a top notch dev team, I can not get into more about it, it's top secret you know.Microsoft will be pushing it as a big game for there Fall 2002 games list.It will beat out in both gameplay and graphics any RPG to date,even FF, Sorry Abe babe but true,it is really astounding. But then again maybe the next FF's will be better again as well.
So RPG is coming to XBOX, don't you worry about that. One at launch is Nightcaster. but it is more of a ACT/RPG, take a look at it, you may like it.

I just love that CG OGRE, he is just beautiful to me. 90 hours of platforming bliss. Shrek is comprised of 16.500 polys, High texture detail and some impressive A.I. I will be all over Shrek in just 4 more weeks.All over the game I mean, I love Shrek as a movie and game character, I'll save my other loving for the beautiful ladies of the world, thank you very much.
I have been running with a few games on my debugger, oh it's something wonderful, Heavens beast and 24 Automatons are just so advanced. They are still about 9 months off but already better than anything out there...PERIOD>>>> A.I. graphics, gameplay,physics, just soooo very advanced. It's a pity I cannot get the full versions now. It is great getting the games for early looks, but still almost a curse, you play a bit and then wait somemore, almost torture. But it's a good problem to have.
