SpooceShrubs are the subaerial organs of a plant that contains a liquid called Spook Juice, or Spooce. Spooce is a physical thing, a psychotropic chemical substance that the Mudokons believe creates a stronger connection between the conscious mind and the spirit world. Its use is of course banned in industrialized society, but the Mudokons would never dream of banning a plant.

I think the point Taco was trying to make was that it's the formation of the Possession Orb that requires Spooce. Before MO, Abe could only possess the creature closest to him. The Possession Orb allows him to take control of a creature of his choosing, and at a much greater distance than before.
