they have the 'niceness' beaten out of them at an early age, otherwise i'm sure they would take heed of their conscious. therefore if they are no longer technically 'nice', the short life span is only going to strengthen the possibility they will never develop a decent conscious in their lifetime. of course, i'm sure there are exceptions, but i'm talking about the majority of the time.
