Chapter 4
Strange Technology
The trio were in an abandoned laboratory covered in moss and bits of plant. “Surely plants couldn’t have gotten in here” said Zaypher inspecting them. Admeet pointed to a small ventilation shaft with the plants growing out of it. “Ah” Zaypher said. The trio continued through the growth infested labs. “We might want to check like cupboards and cabinets for supplies” said Solister looking in the top draw of a metal cabinet. Inside she found a vial containing a clear liquid and some Dagger Roach maggots. They were shrivelled and dried up. “There could be some Dagger Roaches around here” Solister said, “Be on the lookout”. “Hmm, newly hatched maggots” said Zaypher looking in a cupboard, “They’re definitely still here. And it looks like they left bite marks on the plants. They must use them as food”.
Admeet continued through the labs and came across a test lab containing a couple of large glass containers. Inside both of them were hideous and mutated Sligs suspended in a body of liquid. “God, what were they doing down here” he said to himself. Solister and Zaypher caught up with him. “What is that” said Zaypher looking at the mutated Slig. “One of the test subjects” replied Admeet. Beside the container was a broken container. “Hmm, something must have escaped” said Admeet looking at it. However, Solister just leant against a wall and looked at the broken container. “Must have been another test subject” replied Zaypher. Solister then looked at the nearby generator by the first glass container. The electricity receptors still buzzed with electricity. She had the urge to touch it. She walked towards it and leant over slowly to touch the receptors. Admeet looked towards Solister and fear came into his mind.
“What are you doing” He shouted. Solister touched the receptors and felt electricity surge through her. She screamed in pain as Zaypher watched in shock. Admeet ran to push her out of the way. He tackled her and he and Solister fell to the ground. Admeet quickly got up and stared at Solister. She slowly got up and turned to face Admeet. Her eyes glowed red with anger and rage flowed through her mind; Admeet could literally see it. Purple bands of electricity surged on the surface of her arms. Then Solister unleashed an electrical surge and shot it at Admeet and Zaypher. They both fell to the ground and twitched as the electricity flowed through them. She ran towards a ventilation shaft and magically jumped through it without one single scrape. Admeet stopped twitching and slowly sat up. He looked at the ventilation shaft and felt speechless. Solister had vanished and anger had taken over her. There was nothing he could do now but continue searching the labs.
