Chapter 3
Enemy to Friend
“I escaped through a maintenance shaft just before the C4 went off. I just sat down to think while the flames lashed out from the shaft. Why was I doing this? Why did I betray the only friends I knew?” “You are talking about us right” asked Admeet calming down. “Yes” replied Zaypher, “As I was saying, I thought I was doing the wrong thing. And I was. So I explored the area to look for you and Solister. So now I want to join you on whatever you’re looking for”. “Well, Okay, but I still don’t trust you” said Admeet. He let Zaypher go. “We are looking for something called ‘The Feather’” said Admeet, “Do you know anything about this?” “Hmm, I’m not sure about this but when I was looking for you, I thought I saw a flashing red light buried in a large patch of foliage against a rock. However, I ignored this and continued to search for you” said Zaypher. “Well can you show me” asked Admeet. Solister walked up to Admeet. “Are you sure we can trust him” whispered Solister into Admeet’s ear, “You know what happened last time”. “I know Solister” Admeet whispered back, “But he’s our only lead”. “Yes, I can show you” said Zaypher, “follow me”. Zaypher lead the way and Admeet and Solister followed closely behind.
It didn’t take long before they reached a bushy area by the side of a silvery lake. The couple looked over the lake while Zaypher scanned the bushes for any hint of a light. “It’s beautiful isn’t it” said Solister looking over the shimmering lake. “Yeah” replied Admeet putting his arm around Solister’s back. She did the same to Admeet. Then Zaypher came into the scene. “I’ve found it” he said. The three dashed towards bush where a small red flash could be seen in the growth. “We’ll need to clear the vegetation” said Zaypher starting to grip at the bush. The tree started clearing away the vegetation and soon, a strange, steel hatch could be seen. The markings of a feather were inscribed between the two steel doors. “The Feather” said Admeet, “It is real”.
The flashing light still flashed above the slightly mossy doors. “Hmm, the power must still be on” said Solister looking at the light. “Well, now that we are here, let’s investigate” said Admeet. Zaypher lifted the heavy, vertical opening, steel doors enough so that the other two could get through. They crawled through the gap and Admeet on the other side held the doors while Zaypher crawled through. Admeet let the doors go and they landed with a heavy thud. “We’d better lock the doors in case of an emergency” suggested Zaypher. The couple looked at Zaypher suspiciously. “I promise I won’t turn bad again” Zaypher spoke up. The two nodded in slight agreement but they still didn’t trust him. Zaypher lifted the heavy lock and slid it between the two doors. Now they just had to find out what the Blue Slig wanted Admeet to do.
