Yeah, speaking from the point of view of someone who hasn't read the novels, I can say that the last few films were sloppy, scatter-shot, incomprehensible piles of wooden acting and overblown visual fx. I'm also really tired of people telling me "Well, it's that way in the book". Maybe it was, but some books don't translate well into films without adapting the plot, in fact, most don't. It was easy to tell that they tried to stuff as much content into three hours as they possibly could, but also bypassed the non-important bits where characters just interact, the final result was three hours of cramped action bullshit and very flat characters. I miss when Ron was the quirky sidekick who actually got some fucking screen time. Now he's practically just a lunk-headed, tertiary character to the group dynamic. Fuck that.
