Chapter 2
Journey’s beginning
Without further a due, Admeet went on to talk about what was said in his dream. At first, Solister didn’t believe him and said that visions can sometimes lead to dead ends. However, Admeet felt determined to follow this vision. Reluctantly, Solister agreed that she would go with him. But for now, they would have to rest for the night.
The next day, Admeet and Solister prepared for their trip west. Silpher and Tulia were with them to see them off. , “Well, I suppose you’d better get on your way” said Silpher. “I cannot thank you enough for your help” replied Solister. “Stay safe, for we may meet again” Silpher said back. “Thank you” said Admeet. Then the two set off in a westerly direction in search of ‘The Feather’.
The landscape had been growing back ever since the radiation in the underground sea had vanished. Spouts of grass, ferns and other plants were now turning the brown of the dry desert into a lush green. The forests dotting the horizon were expanding more than ever now. But still, the brown of the desert still remained. Admeet and Solister were now a good 2 miles away from where the pack used to be before they moved to a new location. However, the blinding sun of midday was taking full effect on the land. Luckily, many new streams of water were forming in the expanding forests. The two Sligs were beginning to get thirsty but getting to one of the forests dotted on the horizon wasn’t hard. It took them just around half-an-hour to reach the forest where they could hear at least two streams winding their way around the trees and plants. Admeet and Solister took a couple of mouthfuls and rested for a while. “What do you think we’ll see if we reach this ‘Feather’” asked Solister. “Well I doubt 'it would be a real feather because that would just be a waste of time” replied Admeet, “Maybe it’s some sort of landmark or something”. Then something caught Admeet’s eye. Jammed into the trunk of a tree was a combat knife. Admeet walked over to it and pulled it out. “Hmm, looks like someone has been here before” said Admeet examining the knife. Then, they heard a rustling noise in some bushes behind them. They turned around to see small insect like creatures scuttle out of the bush. Then suddenly, out of the bushes stumbled a red Slig. Admeet and Solister couldn’t believe their eyes. It was Zaypher.
Admeet started walking towards him holding the knife. Zaypher backed away. “Now now Admeet, this is not what it looks like” said Zaypher backing against a tree. Then Admeet pushed him against the tree even more. “What are you doing here” he said angrily, “and how did you even survive the explosion”. “Hmm, well, a long story” said Zaypher
