Whats the deal with negreps? That's some serious bullshit. There's nothing fun or productive about it, it's just one more way to be a nazi. The idea that demerits can be doled out by anyone and not exclusively by those in charge disgusts me.
If you don't have anything nice to say, then stfu. I've only ever given negrep like... twice? Maybe once actually, and I regret it. What's the good in it? So that person can have a permanent red stain on their record for some fleeting indiscretion that will be forgotten and forgiven in a few days anyway?

well i would assume its easier for the mods to dole out -rep than giving warnings/infractions out, and its actually less harsh. thing is people are getting obsessed over the reputation system and seem to prefer a warning/infraction than a massive -rep.
and usually you would have to make a decent or meaningful contribution to a thread in order to receive massive +rep, as its usually given by mods/admins. most of the time you only get a few little reps for posting something spammy or offensive, if not -repped anyway.
and for the record: i never -rep members for differences in opinion. different characteristics and opinions are what make people interesting. most of the time its for being offensive.
OT: i was shocked to see my post count drop below 1000 when the Mod Survivor Island 2 thread was Necrummed. it took me a while to work out why it had happened.
