TCSM had a very low budget, which is why the production was such a nightmare.
They couldn't afford prop carcasses, so all of the dead animals and animal parts you see in that film are real. Lemme tell ya, piles of animal corpses in a tiny house in the Texas heat? It did not smell pretty.

I remember reading about this. The production of the Chain Saw Massacre is unusually interesting. I enjoyed the story about Gunnar Hansen getting tired and agitated during the dinner scene, resulting in him cutting open Marilyn Burns' finger after the tape that fed false blood failed to work.

Said dinner scene took upwards from 24 hours to shoot.
