A good friend of mine carried out a coup de main on my ears with Slipknot. Luckily, I outflanked him with my Charles Mingus. "In a Soulful Mood" was a great album. Nothing like a bit of jazz.
After listening to funk again, I think it's safe to say that most of it is shit. The bass and sax parts have to be very good to get my attention, as do the guitar parts.
