As for the riding animals; I really doubt they're scrabs.
Theres a piece of concept art by either Aebischer or Swanland that features Sekto's office. It has the same hasty digi-sketch style as these and it features several portrayals of different creatures on the wall. One of the creatures has a long pointed snout, alot like these. My first thoughts were that it was the head of a scrab, but proportionally to Sekto, that had to be one mutha of a scrab.
In no way am I implying that these are the same animal, but it does point out a familiar pattern in the designs. If Lorne is the one dictating the look of the pieces, its clear has a thing for long beaks
