You want to know why Communism has never worked? Because it has never been tried. The USSR and Maoist China were never Communist, they were Stalinist. The difference is simple - In a Communist State, Everybody works for the good of Everybody. In a Stalinist State, Everybody works for the good of their Leader. Anybody see the difference there?
The thing is, as long as a rabidly Capitalist nation like the US is the most powerful nation in the world, Communism cannot work, sinly because America would place such heavy trade sanctions on them, and would force other countries to do the same. Communism will not work, in my opinion, until we have a single World Government.
Oh, and in answer to your question, I would rather live in a Communist Democracy. The fact is, any non-Democratic nation that claims to be Communist isn't, since the people have no say in the government, and are therefore not equal. Communism and Democracy are not mutually exclusive, in fact neither can truly exist without the other.
