I actually like Sydneys banners better than my own... so people... ask Sydney also!
I think the reason that my banners may look to have lesser image quality than Sydney's are not so much that the quality is actually less... but the images are different. I use a lot of blurring and fading in my banners, whereas Sydney uses clear defined lines and images.
