I agree. We haven't seen enough of Slig society to really know what they are like. But they can play card games, that means they're pretty clever.
@MA: I do like to bring references from anywhere I can find them. I watch a lot of english films, american films, japanese anime... So I have a wide pool of knowledge.
I was even thinking of an Alien VS Oddworld fanfic, based on the Alien films. That might be interesting enough to try...
