I don't think this will last much longer but I will add my opinion, if only to be ripped to shreds by everyone.
I personally like cats more. Dogs scare the crap out of me when they bark. And when they can't actually get me, it annoys me. Cats just meow, hiss and do that reow thing. That doesn't strike me as unfriendly or annoying. I don't have either a cat or dog, but if it's one of those quiet big dogs, they are a nice companion. Cats just need to have both eyes (I once saw a rather creepy cat with just one eye.), and not scratch me when I come near it.
