Vector graphics are graphics that do not use pixels. Instead they calculate the points using maths. The graphics you posted are not advanced. There glossy and are very easy to do. The glossy effect was used alot in web design untill recently where its now classed as tacky. If you want glossy images fireworks is the best tool for this or i have been doing them for ages.
