More of an update than a sequel really, oh hai ez moneyz!

Every new version of the game brings new stuff, new gameplay to the table. The only downside to this is that both Maxis and especially EA are both still money hungry companies. As a result the first core game of a new version (Sims 2, Sims 3) are stripped down to the core so they can start remaking expansion packs about things they could have easily implemented in the original game. I felt cheated like that with The Sims 2, after having played The Sims 1 and it's expansions for ages and getting used to all the goodies. And I'm pretty sure I'll feel cheated again with The Sims 3.
In fact from the few people who already played it I've heard that objects in game quite few, creation of custom content has been made harder on purpose and EA is opening a download store for The Sims 3 where you can download new items for 40 cent a piece. And they are wondering why people download games...
