Actually, that's a perfect example of what I mean, Havoc.
The Israel/Palestinian issue has only ever been about one thing: Land. Both sides think they have exclusive right to live in the same patch of soil [/oversimplification]. That it has become couched in relgious terms (suicide bombers, 70 virgins, holy land, etc) is a later addition; it all started with the land.
