Desktop themes with Windows Sound Recorder - anyone?
They say small things please small minds, and they're not wrong. I've just discovered how to edit WAV files with Windows' Sound Recorder, and so I've been having great fun ripping my CDS and converting them into mp3 files, and then converting the mp3 files into WAVs and then using bits of them as the sounds for my desktop.
So far, I have got:
Critical Stop: Jean Michel Jarre - "Revolution!" from the song Revolution, Revolutions.
Empty Recycle Bin: David Bowie - dog howl noise from the song Future Legend.
Exclamation: The Prodigy - "Rock the house in" from the Dust Brothers' Remix of the song Voodoo People.
Exit Windows: "Contender Eliminated" voice from WipEout 2097.
Menu Command: Leftfield - "Planet" vocoder form the song Phat Planet
Menu Popup: Leftfield - "Phat" vocoder form the song Phat Planet
Program Error: The Prodigy - "I'm a Firestarter, Twisted Firestarter!" from the song Firestarter.
Question: Space Raiders - "One, two, middlesboogie!" from the song Middlesboogie
Start Windows: Intro music from Hogs Of War
Asterisk, Close Program, Default sound, Maximise, Minimise, Open Program, Restore Down, Restore Up, System Default are all set either as The 60's USA or Inside Your Computer (two of the sound schemes that come with the computer)
MSN:
Contact Online: Tribal drumming noise
New Alert: default
New Mail: default
New Message: click noise
AOL:
Goodbye: Tiger growling noise
Welcome: Future Sound Of London - "Ok, let's see what we can see. Everybody online? Looking good" from the song The Far Out Son Of Lung And The Ramblings Of A Madman
New E-mail: default
Does anyone else have a desktop sound scheme that they've created themselves? If not, what sort of things do you have as your sounds?
