Veidt's portrayal REALLY pissed me off because I interpreted him as this charming sort of Melancholy billionaire. In the movie he's just a pompous dick.

Yes, the anvillicious point of Veidt declaring that his new world requires less obvious heroics was offset by the fact that Dreiberg still beats him and accuses him of having twisted ideals at the end, plus in the movie I don't think he was half big enough, he was meant to have the perfect body and be ultra handsome.
