I watched the Watchmen last night and I thought it was pretty incredible, far better and more faithful to the source material than nearly every comic to movie conversion nowdays. The montage at the start took my breath away.
The main problems I had with the movie (Apart from those mentioned by Kastere in his blog) are that the Comedian wasn't given as much sympathy as he was in the comic Cross that with the drawn out rape scene and around 9/10 of the audience came out of the movie literally despising him and that Veidt was demonized by everyone in the end, rather than it being entirely left up to the watcher whether his actions were just or not.
The bits that really stood out for me were both Dr Manhatten scenes (Although the first one was largely truncated), the super stylised way all the battles were conducted (You could almost see the KAPOW on the screen) and every scene involving Rorschach (One of my friends whispered to me that Rorschach was a totally unbelievable character because of the way he was acting and the ultra cheesy gruff voice he talked with, I whispered back at him that he was rather missing the whole point).
Most of the negative criticisms that Watchman has recieved are totally alien to me.
