If you feel like writing a fanfic about sligs, my advice is, do it!
I read a few fanfics and I was motivated to create me own.
Trust me, if you read enough fanfics, then you'll be inspired to make some.
If I hid my instincts and not wrote this fanfic, we wouldn't be talking about it here!
My recommendation is that you go for what your heart tells you.
Just look for inspiration in the world around you and create something amazing!
