I have one of the first generation X-box's and never had the damn thing once. In fact I never had a problem with my xbox to begin with.
And seriously if you get the RRoD 11 times then I'm pretty sure it's your own fault, not the X-box. And by the sound of it happening mostly after watching a DVD, it's prolly a heat issue.
