Yeah, I played through Halo Wars demo too. A bit of getting used to the controls, but after that not too tough, and pretty enjoyable. The base building is quick and easy, and controlling units, while a little frustrating at time if I have to paint them, is pretty simple.
It's not very fun once I realized to just rush elite honor guards as Covenant and warthogs as Human, though.

I agree painting is annoying as hell, once I had multiple bases grabbing only some of my army was frustrating. I dunno, I managed to fight off a bunch of honor guards with only Marines. After that though, the AI sent fucking Scarabs. I swore, they built one after the other for a while, I had to kill like 5 of them. Finally went to the bastards base with a hundred something ODSTs, 3 Spartans, and 3 tanks. He built no more Scarabs.
