Yes, something that should be made explicit from now on is that the votes should be given with respect to things that happenend in the preceding calendar year, i.e. these awards shouldn’t factor in anything that happen this January. But the year doesn’t need to be appended to each category’s name.
One existing category I would like to ponder is Best New Member. In the past, this title could only be given to a member who joined less than 6 months before. This limited potential winners to 50% of the members that join, since the awards were annual. I would like suggestions on how to fix this problem (or opinions on whether it should be fixed or not). Maybe it should be opened up to all members who joined in (for these awards) 2008?
