Who said it was an official test? The outcome of such a test doesn't surprise me either.
(I'm going to get burned for this, I know that for a fact, BUT) I think in a way that if you'd go back to basics, our instinct considers a 12 year old girl sexually mature. And this is true in a way because there are plenty of girls who get their first period around their 11th, 12th or 13th. Next to that there are also plenty of stories of girls who are pregnant on the age of 12.
Our society has banned any sexual thought of children that young because sex has become a lot more then it's basic purpose of reproducing. But in the sense of our primal instinct I think that a 12 year old would be considered ok for mating with and this our instinct gives you the boner.
Of course no-one is ever going to admit getting a boner when he sees a young girl around the age of 12 - 15, when you're around 20 yourself. But I'm pretty sure that it has happened to every guy at one point or another. Think swimming pools, beaches or accidentally getting confronted with the wrong kind of porn somehow.
Just because we consciously know such thoughts about young children are wrong in today's society doesn't mean our primal instincts gives a rats ass.

This. But uhm, 12 years old is actually not considered pedo. 12-year-olds have sexual properties that can be attractive to adults. Pedophilia is actually used to describe people who get off to 5-year-olds and such.
