Hmmm. Okay.

A giraffe-type creature. It is lacking in the necessary vertebrae designed to keep its neck stable, and so has great difficulty moving. To top it off, any severe neck movements could result in tearing of the lining on the inside of the neck. The bottom of its hooves are unusually soft, and seeing as it lives in a rocky area, always ends up stepping on something sharp, which will occasionally lodge inside the tissue of the hoof.

The head, is unusually large and so its neck must droop, causing the few vertebrae extra strain and occasionally, the neck can snap, forcing the creature to drag its head between its legs. :] Oh, and it's a cannibal. Just to add to the whole self-harm thing. Heehee.

How's that? I'm not so good with anatomy. XDD
This is really good, but I'm leaning more towards something that doesn't really look like a normal animal.

A rodent creature that's more sea urchen-like in appearance. Its spines provide good defense against predators, but the inward tips of them have tiny, thorn-like appendages constantly irritating the creature's internal organs. Appropiately named the Pin Cushion Mouse.
Exactly what I'm looking for.
