Nobody is going to know until direct contact is made. But is direct contact ever made? That is another question. Perhaps like in the movie Men In Black aliens co-exist with us and are kept under control by the government. Perhaps they abduct us secretly. Or perhaps they simply wish to observe. Or perhaps we are more evolved and they have yet to build a machine capable of taking them to Earth. Or perhaps they have already seen us and we are of so little importance that they simply feel we are not worth interacting to. So many theories exist that nobody can be sure of anything until contact is made. When, where, who, why, and how are the questions that are more important.
Note that this is my final statement on the subject. Until something convinces me otherwise.
